Hands of Good Fortune

Year: 2025

Medium: Acrylic on canvas

Size: 22” x 16”

Others: Every Lunar New Year, Hong Kong is painted red, each window donning 窗花 (window flowers), each doorway lined with diamond-shaped paper blessings. Often cut hand-cut, the central character of these blessings, “福” (fortune), represents not only prosperity but the shared joy of making—of hands cutting, shaping, and passing down stories. Through this work, I honor the women in my family who taught me patience and precision, using the age-old red papers as symbols of love, continuity, and home.
